Cash van carrying liquor seized, 5 held
PATNA: Police seized a cash van and recovered huge amount of liquor from Kachchi Dargah roundabout under the River patrolling police station area of Patna district Monday night.
Sources said after the seizure, police continued its raid till Tuesday afternoon and arrested five persons, including liquor smuggler Mohit Gehlot from Jhajjar in Haryana. The other arrested persons were Navin Dalal of Jhajjar and Kanchan Kumar, Anil Rai and Vakil Rai of Vaishali in Bihar.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said Gehlot was the kingpin of the racket.

Police sources said the van bearing Uttar Pradesh’s registration number with ‘On bank duty’ written on it was stopped at the roundabout during regular police checking. “The van was full of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) manufactured in Haryana. Later, one more vehicle laden with IMFL was also traced on the van driver’s input,” sources said. The consignment was to be unloaded at Raghopur in Vaishali district.
On February 2 this year, a special task force (STF) team had also seized a cash van with liquor.
