Cash, valuables worth Rs 5 lakh looted in Nalanda

Biharsharif: Armed dacoits looted cash and valuables worth around Rs 5 lakh from a house in Chhajju Mohalla locality under Biharsharif police station area of Nalanda district early Thursday. The crime was committed after the assailants held a 28-year-old woman hostage and assaulted her. The victim, identified as Hena Parveen, was alone at the residence as her husband works in Delhi. She had been staying at the newly constructed house for the past one month to oversee interior work.

According to her brother, Mohammad Shahid Ali, the robbery took place around 3am on Thursday. Five to six masked men reached the third floor using an outer windowsill, cut through the iron grill and window bars, and entered the house.

The accused overpowered Parveen at gunpoint and demanded information about cash and jewellery. When she resisted, they assaulted her, causing serious injuries to her face. The gang ransacked the house for nearly 20 minutes and fled with around Rs 25,000 in cash, gold and silver ornaments, and brass utensils. Before fleeing, the assailants snatched her phone, removed the SIM card, locked her in the bathroom, and escaped.

Biharsharif Sadar SDPO Nurul Haque said, “An FSL team has collected evidence and CCTV footage is being examined.”
