Case lodged against mukhiya

ARARIA: Even as rumblings over the multi-crore Dehti Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS) scam continue to resonate, yet another scam in MNREGA has come to the fore in Araria district.
A case of embezzlement in MNREGA funds to the tune of Rs 15.92 lakh was lodged against Prasadpur panchayat mukhiya, Murshida Khatoon, her husband and son as well as two teachers under Jokihat police station, said police.The fund was allegedly embezzled through forged signatures, police said.
The embezzlement was detected in course of an inquiry into the bank account bearing no 30355406129 with SBI in Araria, police disclosed. Araria SDPO Mohammad Qasim on Wednesday said that arrests would follow only after the bank accounts were verified and it was ascertained how the transactions took place.
