State’s labour resources minister Surendra Ram’s mother Kalawati Devi lost the election of ward councillor from ward no-07 of Dighwara nagar panchayat by a margin of 139 votes to one Muneshwar Paswan. While Kalawati got 238 votes, Muneshwar, a farmer, won the election by securing 377 votes.

In Hajipur Nagar Parishad election, Rama Nishad, the wife of BJP’s Muzaffarpur MP Ajay Nishad, had to face a humiliating defeat at the hands of a greenhorn Jyotsana Kumari.

Rama, who earlier held the post of the Hajipur Nagar Parishad chairperson, was this time contesting the election of ward councillor from ward no-01. But she lost the election to a first-timer Jyotsana by 53 votes. Jyotsana, who has completed an MBA course from the LNMI, Patna, is daughter-in-law of JD(U) leader Vijay Sahni.

In the Bagaha Nagar Parishad election, the JD(U) MLC Bhishma Sahani’s wife and daughter-in-law both lost the election. While Sahani’s daughter-in-law Rinki Devi contested the election for the post of the chairperson, his wife Godawari Devi for the ward councillor from ward no-35. Both trailed at the third position in their respective election.
