Buxar district prepares for safe Chhath celebrations
Buxar: With just three days left for Chhath, beginning with the ritual of Nahay-Khay, the Buxar district administration has ramped up preparations to ensure a safe and seamless celebration, with major focus on managing crowd. Anticipating large gatherings along the banks of river Ganga, a high-level team, including Buxar subdivisional magistrate (SDM) Avinash Kumar, subdivisional police officer Gaurav Pandey and nagar parishad executive officer Manish Kumar, conducted an inspection of key Chhath ghats across the town on Wednesday.
They visited prominent ghats, including Ramrekha, Nath Baba, Thatheri Bazaar and Piparpati Ghat.
Special focus was laid on crowd control and the safety of devotees during ‘arghya’ (offering prayers) and bathing rituals.
The Buxar SDM instructed the executive officer to install barricades at heavily frequented ghats to prevent overcrowding, and ensure adequate lighting, cleanliness and the timely deployment of divers.
Sanitation teams have been mandated to operate round-the-clock to maintain hygiene standards throughout the four-day festival. For security, additional deployment of police personnel, including female officers and home guards, has been planned. The SDPO confirmed that traffic movement around major ghats will be regulated to prevent congestion and ensure smooth access for devotees.
