cash. Murli Lal (35) of Kankarbagh recently opened a shop in Ram Mani Complex opposite Jankkanpur PS. He went home on Tuesday after locking the shop around 9pm. On Wednesday morning, his landlord Manoj who resides at Chandmari informed him that the shutter of his shop was broken.
"The robbers took away only costly mobile phone sets and batteries along with Rs 1.4 lakh cash kept in the cash counter. The CCTV, computer and hard disc where CCTV footage is recorded were also smashed," Murli said, adding, "I have suffered a huge loss as my shop was not even insured. But the cops did not cooperate with me. Immediately after reaching my shop, I went to Jakkanpur PS to lodge an FIR but the police did not register it before 9.30pm on Wednesday."
Jakkanpur SHO
Manoj Kumar said, "The shutter was lifted only a few inches and we suspect the criminals might have used a small kid who sneaked inside the shop, looted phone sets and handed them over to the criminals."
Criminals have left behind the chain they used for breaking open the shop and also left fingerprints on other items they touched inside the shop. "We would be taking the fingerprints to identify the criminals," the SHO said.
Criminal's property confiscated The enforcement directorate (ED) on Thursday confiscated 10 properties of jailed gangster Ritlal Yadav, a police official said. ADG Ravindra Kumar said such moves would help the state government strike at the root of illegal financial sources of criminals. Police had initiated moves last year to seize Yadav's properties worth crores of rupees.
