BSEB Intermediate exam to begin from today
Patna: The state-level 2026 annual intermediate examination conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is set to commence on Monday under tight security arrangements. More than 13 lakh boys and girls will be writing their papers at 1,762 examination centres across the state. In Patna district, 73,963 examinees, including 38,037 girls will take the examination at 84 centres.
The examinations will be held in two shifts- first shift from 9.30 am and second shift from 2 pm. Examinees will have to enter the examination hall at least half an hour before the commencement of examination in both the shifts. In the first shift on Monday, students would take the examination in biology or philosophy, while the students of arts and commerce stream would write the paper in economics.
BSEB chairman Anand Kishore told the newspaper that in the light of the zero-tolerance policy of the state govt, use of unfair means will not be allowed at any centre. At every examination centre, there will be three-tier posting of magistrates to ensure fair conduct of examinations. Examinees will be thoroughly frisked at the entrance gate of the centre by police and magistrates and at the entrance of examination hall by the invigilators.
BSEB has provided Unique ID to each examinee for facilitating his or her special identification. A WhatsApp group named “BSEB Exam 2026” has been created linking all the DMs, SPs and BSEB officials for dissemination of any important message and quick disposal of any problem. A control room has also been set up which would remain functional from 6 am on February1 to 6 pm on February 13.
Kishore further added that there would be 152 model examination centres altogether, four in each district, wherein the examinees, invigilators and all others connected with examination would be women. In Patna district, the four model centres are Government Girls High School, Bankipur, Government Girls High School, Shashtrinagar, Kamla Nehru Girls High School, Yarpur, and Government Girls High School, Gardanibagh.
No student would be allowed to enter the examination hall after the commencement of examination. There would be one invigilator for every 25 examinees. There must be at least two invigilators in each examination hall. Except the centre superintendent, no invigilator, examinee or other personnel would be allowed to carry mobile with him in the examination hall.
Sealed packets of questions received from bank or treasury would be opened at the centre in the presence of static magistrates in both the sittings of examinations with complete videography.
If an examinee’s admit card is lost, he may be allowed to take the examination after establishing his identity from the scanned photograph on the attendance sheet and verification from the roll sheet. The BSEB would distribute pre-printed answer books and OMR sheets bearing candidate’s photographs and other details, the chairman added.
