BSAP havildar dies by suicide at Secretariat police station
Patna: A havildar of the Reserve Guard posted with Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) -1 allegedly died by suicide at the Secretariat police station in Patna on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Navraj Sunar (46), a resident of a village in Nepal. He had been serving in the Reserve Guard unit for several years.Patna senior superintendent of police Kartikeya Sharma said the incident took place around 11pm. He said Sunar had been suffering from a prolonged illness and was under medical treatment, which caused him severe stress.“Due to mental distress linked to his health condition, he took the extreme step. Two suicide notes have been recovered. One note, written in Hindi, stated that he is ending his life because of illness and that no one should be held responsible. The second note is written in Nepali meant for his family. It carried a similar message along with personal communication,” the SSP said.Police personnel at the station alerted senior officers after the incident. The body was brought down and the room was secured. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team examined the spot and collected evidence as part of the procedure. The body was sent to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, for post-mortem. His family has been informed about the incident and further investigation is underway.
