PATNA: A two-hour-long high-voltage drama was witnessed on Boring Road on Wednesday after the discovery of an abandoned briefcase and bag at the Boring Road crossing, leading to bomb scare. However, no bomb was found, bringing relief to the city police and people of the area.
S K Puri police station SHO Sanjay Kumar Pandey said, "On receipt of information about the abandoned articles, we immediately contacted the bomb disposal squad.

The area was evacuated to avert any untoward incident. However, when the bomb disposal squad opened the bag and the briefcase, they were found to have garments, a paper with several mobile phone numbers and some other articles."
Patna City SP Jayant Kant said, "The bomb disposal squad, a team of forensic science laboratory and a fire tender were rushed to the spot." The area was sealed around 12.30pm and it was only around 2pm that the bomb disposal squad declared that no bomb was found.
On the basis of the papers recovered, the police located the owner of the bag and briefcase, Krishna Mohan Singh, a resident of Indraprastha Apartment on Boring Road. "He told the police over phone that his luggage was stolen from Patna Junction but he left for Delhi as the train arrived by that time," said the SHO. Later, the luggage was handed over to his relatives.
"Managing the crowd was a tough challenge for us as onlookers were gathering nearing the spot. But it could have been be very risky for them if a live bomb was found in the briefcase," said SHO Pandey.

Five criminals arrested: Patna police on Tuesday night arrested five criminals who were posing as district transport officer (DTO) to loot trucks on highways. Police seized five countrymade pistols, 10 live cartridges, mobile phones and other sharp weapons from their possession.
The arrested criminals were identified as Pintu Kumar alias Vivek, Shankar Kumar alias Bharat Yadav, Shishupal Kumar, Gopal Kumar and Mohan Kumar. Patna SSP Manu Maharaj said, "A Haryana-based truck was looted on June 22 and an FIR was lodged with Dulhin Bazar police station by the truck driver. A special team led by City SP Jayant Kant was formed to investigate the highway truck loot cases." The gang was involved in truck loot cases on Ara-Patna highway, Mokama area, Rohtas and other districts.
