PURNIA: The startling recovery of four bodies, two of whom are very close relations (parents in law) of RJD MLA from Rupauli, Bima Bharati on Friday morning, ten days after they were allegedly kidnapped, from near village Bajra under crime-infested Bhowanipore police station has aroused all speculations, besides triggering off a shock wave.
Purnia SP K K Verma, while confirming the recovery of bodies on Friday morning, told TNN in Purnia on Friday that they were actually done to death by some hardcore criminals.
Those killed were identified as Arjun Mandal and Yasho Devi, parents in law of Bima Bharati, and Fulkan Mandal and Anil Mandal, alleged gangsters who worked as their body guards, the SP said. So far, four persons have been nabbed by the police, SP disclosed.
According to police sources, these four persons were allegedly "abducted" on May 24, but close siblings of RJD MLA Bima Bharati, instead of intimating the police kept all this under wrap. Police were informed only on May 30. Police launched a big manhunt for the recovery of the "abducted" relations and depending on the clues provided by the informants, police all along worked on abduction theory.
The entire episode is traced to on-going internecine gang warfare, according to sources. Rupauli MLA Bima Bharati is the spouse of die-hard gangster Awadesh Mandal who is the acknowledged kingpin of a criminal outfit. Awadesh is currently in jail outside Purnia, sources added.
The denouement of abduction drama in gory death is, however, perceived as the ultimate in gang warfare, say knowledgeable sources at Purnia.
