BJP MLA’s nephew beaten in Nawada road rage incident
Patna: Kundan Kumar, 29, nephew of BJP MLA Anil Singh from Hisua, was allegedly beaten up and robbed of gold ornaments in a road rage incident in Nawada district late Thursday night. He has been admitted to Nawada Sadar Hospital with serious injuries.
The incident took place while his elder brother, Chandan Kumar, was returning home on a tractor when an SUV behind him asked for right of way. Due to lack of space, he could not give way to the SUV. “Angered by this, the car occupants stopped near Gangta Musahri and started abusing me,” Chandan said.
Chandan reached his home in Fulma village, but the SUV occupants followed him and continued abusing him. However, Kundan intervened and calmed the matter.
Later, while Kundan was going to his sister’s house in Sakarpura Derma village on a bike, the SUV occupants allegedly called 10-15 more people. They chased Kundan and stopped him near Jasauli railway crossing, where they allegedly assaulted him with belts, sticks and iron rods. Kundan suffered a head injury and internal injuries to his stomach and leg.
Police said a case has been filed at Nemdarganj police station in this connection.
Nemdarganj SHO Ranjeet Kumar said, “The assailants allegedly snatched a gold chain from Kundan, a gold bracelet and four gold rings. After the assault, they left Kundan near a school and fled towards Khanpur village. An FIR was registered on the victim’s statement against 12 unidentified people. The victim also mentioned the registration number of the SUV in his complaint. We are trying to identify the attackers through the vehicle’s registration number.”
