Patna: The BJP members in the legislative council on Monday demanded CBI probe into Rs100-crore drug scam. BJP members Lal Babu Prasad and Rajnish Kumar moved an adjournment notice demanding special debate on the issue. However, Chairman Awadhesh Narain Singh rejected it and asked them to raise the issue during zero hour.
Amid noisy scenes, leader of opposition in the council Sushil K Modi said two key persons allegedly involved in the scam — the then MD, Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSICL), Pravin Kishore, and the then joint secretary, health, Sanjay Kumar, were moving scot-free.

The government did not lodge even an FIR against them and allowed them to go to their parent departments, Modi alleged.
He said the government had instituted four different committees to probe the scam. Two of the panels were headed by bureaucrats. The government is yet to release the findings of the probe committees headed by the two bureaucrats in health department, Modi said and added that Sanjay had been the PA to chief minister Nitish Kumar besides the chairman of the purchase committee.
Soon after the question hour, BJP members trooped into the well of the House. Mangal Pandey, Rajnish Kumar, Satyendra Narain Kushwaha, Nawal K Yadav, Sanjay Mayukh, Kiran Ghai Sinha and Lal Babu Prasad displayed placards and shouted slogans against the government. The chairman had to adjourn the House till the lunch break.
Later, Modi said the government has admitted huge financial irregularities in the purchase of drugs and equipment. Nine persons were suspended but big fishes were spared, Modi alleged. No FIR was lodged against any blacklisted drug manufacturing companies. Quoting CAG’s August 2014 report, Modi said AG has found large-scale financial irregularities in drug purchase.
