Bihar's Sudha brand to launch cholesterol-free ghee by coming Durga Puja

Good news for people suffering from hypertension, diabetes and heart diseases, the Bihar State Milk Co-Operative Federation Ltd (Comfed) is soon going to launch cholesterol-free ghee under its famous brand name Sudha.

PATNA: In good news for people suffering from hypertension, diabetes and heart diseases, the Bihar State Milk Co-Operative Federation Ltd (Comfed) is soon going to launch cholesterol-free ghee under its famous brand name Sudha.
“The cholesterol-free ghee will be available in market across Bihar by coming Durga Puja. It’s one litre pack will cost Rs 30 more than the general ghee of Sudha brand,” Comfed managing director Seema Tripathi said on Monday.
The general ghee of Sudha brand is currently being sold at Rs 350 per litre at Sudha outlets in Patna.

It means the cholesterol-free ghee will be available at Rs 380 per litre in the market, if the price of Sudha’s general ghee remains the same by coming Durga Puja.
Tripathi said preparations were in the final leg for launching the cholesterol-free ghee which would be very beneficial for the people afflicted from different cholesterol related diseases.
“Besides the cholesterol-free ghee, the Comfed is also going to launch a multi-nutrient drink under the brand name of ‘Bal Sudha’ for the state’s malnourished children. We are also working out to launch packs of ‘Makhana-kheer’ and ready-to-eat mix of ‘Dahi-Chura’ to add some more ethnic Bihari falvour in the range of Sudha products,” said N Vijayaluxmi, secretary of the animal and fisheries resources department under which Comfed works, while talking to reporters alongwith her minister Awadesh Kumar Singh at a departmental event.

Giving details about the ‘Bal Sudha’, Tripathi said it would be a mix of milk, pea-nut, vitamins and some minerals in a small tetra-pack to be distributed among malnourished children initially only through the government-run Anganbari centres in three selective districts on a pilot basis.
“We have prepared the mix of Bal Sudha at the request of the state’s social welfare department and initially it will be distributed only among the identified severe and acute malnourished (SAM) children of Anganbari centres. The distribution of Bal Sudha would be launched at some selected Angalbari centres in Purnia district within a few week,” Comfed MD said in presence of the minister.
To a question, she said, the nutrients-filled pack of ‘Bal Sudha’ would be a course of 56 days and it, as per the social welfare department’s plan, would be distributed among altogether 2,100 SAM children in Purnia in the initial phase of pilot project. After Purnia, the packs of Bal Sudha would be distributed in Begusarai and one more district, she said.
One being asked about the launch date for the pack of ‘Makhana-Kheer’ and “dahi-Chura’, Tripathi said the two products were in the phase of trial.
