Bihar sidelined by Centre in Union Budget, says RJD's Buxar MP
Buxar: The Union Budget evoked sharp political reactions in Buxar with the RJD accusing the Centre of sidelining Bihar after elections.
RJD MP from Buxar Sudhakar Singh criticised the Budget for making no specific reference to Bihar, alleging that the state figured in the Centre’s priorities only during election periods. He argued that development schemes linked to cities with a population of over five lakh excluded most districts in Bihar, while villages, which form the backbone of the economy, found no mention.
Singh also flagged concerns over overcrowded and unsafe rail travel in the state, pointing to the lack of new trains and the continued presence of unmanned railway crossings. On healthcare, he said promises of affordable cancer medicines had not been fulfilled and highlighted the absence of a cancer super-specialty hospital in Bihar, forcing patients to seek treatment outside the state. He criticised the growing role of the private sector in healthcare and education, warning that it would further burden the poor and middle class.
Accusing the Centre of favouring select states, Singh alleged that major projects such as textile parks, bullet trains and mineral hubs were being concentrated in Gujarat and Maharashtra. “The Budget favours capitalists, select states and electoral interests, not farmers, labourers, students or the poor,” he said.
In contrast, BJP leader Varsha Pandey welcomed the Union Budget 2026-27, saying it reflected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. She said the emphasis on capital investment, infrastructure development, job creation and fiscal discipline would ensure sustainable long-term growth.
