Bihar, Punjab share deep cultural bond: DGP

Patna: DGP Vinay Kumar on Sunday said the relationship between Bihar and Punjab is very old and deeply rooted in an atmosphere of mutual affection and respect. The people of both the states are hardworking, dedicated, and have made significant contributions for the all-round development of the country.Addressing a delegation of 50 youths coming from Punjab under Yuva Sangam Phase -6 of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ scheme of the govt of India at IIT-Patna (IIT-P), Kumar said the development of Punjab has been possible through the important contributions from the people of Bihar. Both states share a deep religious and cultural connection through Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib being the birthplace of Guru Govind Singh, the 10th and last Guru of Sikhs.In his welcome address, IIT-P director T N Singh stated that programmes like “Yuva Sangam” serve as a powerful platform for the exchange of the country’s literary, historical, and cultural heritage. Such initiatives provide young people from different states an opportunity to closely understand each other’s language, culture, traditions, religious beliefs, and social values, he said.The director said that IIT-Patna has been designated as the nodal institution for the “Yuva Sangam” programme in Bihar. The programme aims at strengthening emotional unity, mutual understanding, and national integration among the youth of different states and Union Territories of the country.As part of the programme, the delegates will be introduced to the cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and glorious legacy of Bihar. They will visit the Mahabodhi temple, Mangla Gauri temple, and Vishnupad temple at Gaya, Ghora Katora Lake, the ruins of the ancient Nalanda University and the modern Nalanda University at Rajgir, and Pawapuri Jal Mandir, enabling them to closely experience Bihar’s historical and cultural heritage, the director added.
