Bihar prison employees win three gold medals
PATNA: The prison staff of the state won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals in different category of sports events at the 6th All India Prison Duty Meet which concluded at Ahmedabad on Tuesday.Union home minster Amit Shah had earlier inaugurated the biennial meet on September 4 organised under the aegis of the Bureau of Police Research and Development at TransStadia in Ahmedabad.According to the Bihar Prisons and Correctional Services official Deepa Kumari, the jail warden bagged two gold medals in ‘karate’, and Krav Maga, a self-defence and fighting skill.Besides, jail wardens Rizwana Parveen, Neha Kumari and Sujit Kumar were declared joint winners of gold medal in the best drill.In the health system category, Dr Prashant Sinha and Dr Shashi Bhushan of Naughachia sub-jail were the joint winners of silver medal.While a team of Neeraj Kumar Jha of Hajipur and Manoj Kumar Sinha of Sitamarhi won a bronze medal in quiz competition, Sitamarhi jail warden Ankit Kumar also won a bronze medal in the 100-meter race.Altogether 1,031 prison staff from 19 states and union territories participated in the three-day sports meet.
