Bihar elections: Aam Aadmi Party announces 12 new candidates; Mahagathbandhan struggles with seat-sharing issues
PATNA: The Aam Aadmi Party released its fourth list of 12 for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections on Monday, bringing their total announced candidates to 132 seats. The party is contesting independently in the state elections scheduled for November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14.
The fourth list includes Kumar Kunal for Madhuban constituency, Brij Bhushan (Navin) for Sapaul, and Anil Kumar for Gaya Town. This follows AAP's third list of 50 candidates released on October 18.
The opposition alliance is facing internal challenges, failing to announce their seat-sharing arrangement even on Sunday. This comes as October 20 marks the last date for filing nominations for the second phase and withdrawal of nominations for the first phase of elections covering 121 constituencies.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has announced its decision to contest independently in the Bihar assembly elections. This declaration came after the Mahagathbandhan, comprising RJD and Congress, failed to finalize their seat-sharing agreement for the first phase.
The Congress party has proceeded with releasing its second list of candidates amid the ongoing alliance crisis. They had previously announced their first list of 48 candidates on October 17.
Meanwhile, the ruling National Democratic Alliance has already shared their seat distribution list and begun groundwork in key constituencies. The BJP has announced candidates for all 101 seats allocated to them under the NDA arrangement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to begin his election campaign from October 24. The Bihar Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases for all 243 seats, with polling taking place on November 6 and 11.Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Happy Diwali wishes, messages and quotes !
