PATNA: The stage is set for the three-day grand celebration of Bihar Diwas from Wednesday with a variety of activities on the theme of 'Yuva Shakti, Bihar ki Pragati'.

Additional chief secretary (education) Deepak Kumar Singh on Tuesday visited Gandhi Maidan, the venue of the celebration, and reviewed the preparations with divisional commissioner Kumar Ravi, DM Chandrashekhar Singh, SSP Rajeev Mishra, municipal commissioner Animesh Parashar and other officers.

About 7,000 government and private schools across the state will organise prabhat pheri on this occasion. Besides, schoolchildren will have free visit to all museums of the state and also the Patna zoo.

Singh said the education department has chalked out detailed programme of various events to mark the occasion.

Various activities have been planned during the three-day celebrations, including laser shows at Mangal Talab in Patna City, Rajgir, Bodh Gaya and Vaishali.

Ravi said the sprawling Gandhi Maidan has been divided into four zones and 64 magistrates with police force have been deputed in two shifts at 57 places. A control room and a temporary police station would function there for the occasion. He said adequate number of CCTV cameras would keep surveillance of the venue where water tankers and water ATMs would also be placed.

He said the Bihar Diwas events also included workshops on script writing at Aryabhatta Knowledge University, sculpture art at College of Arts and exhibition of art works by women folk artists in Bihar Museum.
