PATNA: Preparations for the111th
Bihar Diwas celebrations have begun. Several events to mark the day will take place at Gandhi Maidan, SK Memorial Hall, Ravindra Bhavan and
Bihar Museum here from March 22 to 24. The theme for this year’s Bihar Diwas is Saat Nischay Part-2- ‘Yuva Shakti Bihar Ki Pragati’.
The foundation day is observed every year on March 22 after the Bihar was carved out from Bengal Presidency on this day in 1912.
The state government has been celebrating the day every year since 2010. The entire programme will be coordinated by the Bihar education project council, a unit of education department, with the help of other government departments and organisations.
Department of art, culture and youth affairs will organise various competitions for art lovers. A painting competition will take place at Lalit Kala Academy, a sculpture and script writing competition at Patna’s Art and Craft College. Some selected films will be screened for three days at the film festival to be held in a Patna-based cinema hall, which will be free for the general public, but arrangements will be made for distribution of tickets on the basis of ‘first come first served’ policy.
An exhibition of works of women folk artists will also be organised at Bihar Museum, while heritage walk for children will be held in one district of each division. On this occasion, welfare schemes being run by various departments will be displayed with the help of a big screen installed at Gandhi Maidan.
The school children will be taken on a tour by the department of environment, forest and climate change, to various tourist sites.
