The Bihar Diwas is celebrated every year on March 22 as it was on this day that the British carved out Bihar from Bengal Presidency in 1912. Social media platforms were flooded with greetings and posts depicting the glory of Bihar as the three-day celebrations began on Tuesday.

It was CM Nitish Kumar who first declared Bihar Diwas a state programme. The event has become so popular now that people from the state living elsewhere take pride in celebrating it.

The day gives us an opportunity to celebrate our connection with Bihar. I will cook ‘litti chokha’ and invite my schoolfriends living in London to celebrate the day.”

Farida Imam, who lives in Bahrain, too said she ate ‘litti chokha’ in lunch on Tuesday. “This particular food takes us back to Bihar,” she told this newspaper over the phone.
