Bihar Congress leader and member of the political affairs committee, Chandrika Yadav, has issued a legal notice to DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran regarding his 'toilet cleaning' remarks targeting Hindi-speaking people.
Yadav also warned of initiating legal action in the local court if Maran fails to apologize for his comments within a fortnight. The remarks have sparked significant political tension ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In a statement to the media, Yadav highlighted that Maran might not be aware that several Biharis hold pivotal positions in bureaucracy and other vital government services.
"This remark is extremely alarming. Maran appears to be attempting to create a rift between the north and south," Yadav told TOI during a phone conversation on Tuesday.
Rajesh Rathore, the Congress' media department chairman, attributed the entire controversy to the BJP.
"Maran made these comments in 2019, and they are being brought up again in 2023. This seems to be part of a political conspiracy, especially with the LS elections drawing closer," Rathore stated.
