Bihar circle has least teledensity in the country

least teledensity

in the country, according to the latest report published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

According to TRAI officials, the data based on information of total number of subscribers provided by telecom operators as on April 30 this year, the Bihar circle is at the bottom. Teledensity is calculated on number of subscribers per 100 individuals.

"The teledensity of Bihar circle as on April 30 was 61.16 when compared to national teledensity of 93.23," said TRAI's principal advisor SK Mishra.

Neighbouring circles Uttar Pradesh and

West Bengal

have teledensity of 74.11 % and 93.03 %.

On the overall scenario in the country in the last few months, senior officials in the authority said the overall tele-density in the country increased from 92.98 at the end of March to 93.23 at the end of April this year. Similarly, the urban tele-density increased from 171.80 at the end of March to 172.28 at the end of April this year. The rural tele-density also increased from 56.91 at the end of March to 57.02 at the end of April. The share of urban subscribers and rural subscribers in total number of telephone subscribers at the end of April was 58.05% and 41.95% respectively.
