STPs to be installed in many districts: Min
Patna: State urban development and housing department minister Nitin Nabin on Tuesday said to promote cleanliness in Bihar, work on sewage treatment plant (STP) projects under the Namami Gange initiative was expedited, and officers were directed to continuously monitor the ongoing construction work.Reviewing the projects on Tuesday, Nabin said several schemes were being implemented to promote cleanliness in cities along the Ganga. "One of these is Namami Gange. Under this project, sewage network work is being carried out in several districts, including Patna. I have asked the officials concerned to expedite the projects and achieve the target of connecting the sewage pipeline of the households so that the treated water should be released in the river," he said.The department's secretary, Abhay Kumar Singh, said under the STP projects, 1,96,726 houses in Patna are to be connected to the sewage network, out of which connections were completed for 87,798 houses. "In Munger, connections were completed for 13,750 out of 15,200 houses. In Begusarai, connections were completed for 13,000 out of 15,000 houses.
