ARA: A man was shot dead for telling some youths not to idle away in his khatal (cowshed) at Dakshin Ekwana village near Tetariya Mor under Udwantnagar police station area in Bhojpur district late Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Ramayan Singh alias Ramayan Yadav, son of Degree Yadav of Tetariya. Ramayan's son Sintu (20) had a narrow escape as the miscreants fired several rounds, eyewitnesses said.
Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav on Saturday told the media persons the family members of Ramayan rushed him to Sadar Hospital Ara from where he was referred to Patna for better treatment. But he succumbed to his injuries on way to the Patna hospital. "An FIR has been lodged against three named persons. Raids are being conducted to nab the culprits. As per initial investigation, some youths known to the deceased were having snacks and creating a ruckus in his khatal. When Ramayan asked them to vacate his cowshed, the accused started firing and shot at Ramayan in his back," the SP said.
ASP-cum-Sadar SDPO Chandra Prakash said the technical team was assisting the police in the investigation. "Raids have been conducted in the adjacent villages and the mobile number of the main accused is being traced. We hope to arrest them soon " he said.
Elaborating the incident, Sintu said, "When I returned from my tuition, I saw three-four youths sitting in my khatal and eating something. When my father asked them to vacate the place, they started beating me up. When I tried to run away, they kicked my bike and made me fall down. After that they started indiscriminate firing in which my father received a bullet injury. They also fired at me but I had a narrow escape."
Former RJD Sandesh MLA Arun Yadav visited the Sadar Hospital on Saturday and assured them all the help if they sought any.
