Ara: Bhojpur district celebrated its 229th foundation day at Veer Kuer Singh Stadium on Monday. The foundation day was organized by the Bhojpur district administration.
Though the district administration had invited almost all the MLAs, MLCs, MP and others but only RJD MLAs Raghvendra Pratap Singh and Bhai Dinesh and chairman, district board, Phulwanti Devi participated while local MLA and deputy speaker Amrendra Pratap Singh, chairman, Bihar legislative council, Awadhesh Narain Singh, Shivesh Kumar, Munni Devi, Sanjay Singh Tiger, all MLAs, Ara MP R K Singh and even the mayor, Sunil Kumar, were conspicuous by their absence.
PHED minister and Bhojpur district in charge minister, Mahachandra Prasad Singh inaugurated the function amidst beating of drums and blowing of conch. He also released at least 50 doves and balloons in the air. Students of Dr Nemichand Girls High School presented ‘Bharatiyam’ dance.Speaking on the occasion, Singh highlighted the achievements of the government. He said 60% agriculture land was covered with irrigation facility and it would be increased up to 90% and added each and every house in Bhojpur district will get uninterrupted power by 2015 and for this the government is establishing a number of power sub-stations. He announced to upgrade the Ara sadar hospital and equipped it with latest technology. He said fund has been allotted for beautification of Ara and also for relieving the people from perennial problem of traffic jam.
