BEO found dead at Imamganj in Gaya

Gaya: The block education officer (BEO) of Imamganj in Gaya district was found dead in his rented accommodation under mysterious circumstances on Sunday morning.
The deceased, identified as Ramsevak Ram, belonged to village Fuhri under Rahika-Kakraul police station area in Madhubani district. He was posted as Imamganj BEO for the last three years. He was to retire from service after around 17 months.
Blood had oozed out of his mouth and nose while his legs were tied with a rope. Bloodstains were also found around the body. The matter came to light after his family members contacted the teachers of the block when Ram did not respond to their phone calls.
On getting information from the family, Imamganj block teachers’ association president Mukhdev Yadav and other teachers reached the BEO’s residence. They knocked the door, but finding no response from inside, they broke it open with the consent of houseowner to see him lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
Police sent the body to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
Imamganj DSP Manoj Ram said the cause of death could be ascertained from the postmortem report. Police, however, have started investigation into the case. “Prima facie, health issue seems to be the cause of death. Family members have also said the deceased was facing health problems due to which he had submitted written request to senior officials of the education department seeking transfer,” the DSP added.
