Begusarai tops Bihar govt's education ranking

PATNA: For the first time, the

education department

of

Bihar government

on Wednesday gave ranking to 38 districts in the

education sector

of the state in which

Begusarai

has topped the chart. The ranking was prepared on basis of seven different parameters which had different weightage of marks.

According to the chart,

Begusarai district

got total 55 marks out on 100 based on the seven parameters which includes performance of student matriculation examination, awareness campaigns on social issues like de-addiction, child marriage and dowry, student’s attendance percentage of each district, mid-day meal (MDM) beneficiaries against attendance of students.

The three other parameters are students having Aadhaar card and bank account and performance of district in sanctioning student’s credit card loan. This is for the first time that the state government prepared ranking of districts in education on basis of multiple parameters.

Followed by Begusarai is state’s bordering district West Champaran and Sitamarhi, each with 54 marks. Jamui was fourth while Khagaria was judged fifth in the ranking list released by state. Patna, with 45 marks stood at 16th position in the list. Jehanabad was judged the worst district in Bihar with 34 marks.

Weightage for matriculation performance, awareness campaigns and student’s attendance was 20 marks while parameters of MDM beneficiaries, students having Aadhaar card, bank account and student’s credit card sanctioned application carried 10 marks respectively in the ranking.
