BCA signs ₹498cr contract for new int'l standard cricket complex
Patna: Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has signed a ₹498 crore agreement for the construction of an international-standard cricket complex at Moin-ul- Haq Stadium in Patna.
The project, awarded to Shivansh Infrastructure Development Pvt Ltd, will feature world-class facilities, including a seating capacity for 40,000 spectators. This international cricket complex will be constructed on approximately 30 acres of land.
BCA secretary Ziaul Arfeen said they have to complete this work in two years. “BCA will have to hand over the complex after removing all hindrances to make the land available for construction work,” he said.
BCA CEO Manish Raj said the lowest of the two bidders were awarded the project to be completed at a cost of 498 crore.
Raj also said the main playing area and essential facilities will be developed in the first phase, and badminton and volleyball courts will be constructed in the second phase. The project also includes a five-star hotel, a hostel equipped with all facilities for players, a restaurant and a clubhouse. A rainwater harvesting system will also be developed, he added.
Raj said BCA will have a meeting with the state sports department on Feb 11 to finalise the date for starting construction work.
The main ground will be sand-based, with a modern drainage system and drainage layer system in accordance with international standards. It will also be equipped with a pop-up and rain gun system for watering the outfield and main ground. Accommodation for approximately 300 players is also proposed under the project.
BCA president Harsh Vardhan said the project reflected the association’s long-term vision for developing cricket in Bihar.
