Bhagalpur: The vice-chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) Dr D R Singh has been appointed as the president of the Indian Agricultural Universities Association (IAUA), New Delhi, to represent the agricultural universities.
He was appointed following the completion of the term of the previous president and scientist Dr M S Chauhan, vice chancellor of G B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, UP.
IAUA is a leading national platform of Indian agricultural universities, playing a central role in strengthening higher agricultural education, multi-institutional research coordination, policy support, and human resource development.
The BAU VC said that assuming the responsibilities as president of IAUA is a great honour for the BAU as well as on a personal level. “In the current scenario where Indian agriculture faces complex challenges like climate change, resource degradation, nutritional security, effective coordination between science and the government policies at ground levels is essential,” he added.
