The state cabinet has finally given its nod to hand over two quarters of the irrigation pool to B D College, a constituent unit of Magadh University, for further expansion of the college campus.

PATNA: The state cabinet has finally given its nod to hand over two quarters of the irrigation pool to B D College, a constituent unit of Magadh University, for further expansion of the college campus.These quarters, located adjacent to the college, are in a dilapidated condition. The college had urged the state government earlier to allot these two quarters to it for expanding its campus, said college principal Sita Ram Singh.According to Singh, about 5,000 students are enrolledin the college for degree level and vocational courses. The college is impartingteaching in Arts, Science and Commerce streams. The present campus of thecollege is not sufficient to cope with increasing load of academic activities,he said and added the college has prepared a blueprint for its expansion andimproving the academic ambience on the campus.Moral counselling: Shocked over DAV schoolboy Rohit’s murder, Arvind Mahila college has decided to hold moral counselling classes for girl students about the use and misuse of cellphones. Moral counselling classes would help them overcome their stress, said college principal Asha Singh.She said the college isalready holding career counselling classes for girls. Moral counselling classeswill prove to be a boon for them at a time when youths are drifting away fromtheir goals.
Judo-karate lessons are being given to the girls, she said andadded the college is building its own stadium at a cost of Rs 65 lakh to promotegames and sports among girl students.Online library: T P S College has provided online library facility in the college. The library is rich enough to cater to the needs of students at degree and postgraduate level, said college principal Baban Singh. According to him, the college has started vocational courses in BBM, biotechnology and BCA at degree level. Admission to these courses will be purely on merit, duly following the UGC criteria in toto, he said.Paucity of teachers: RPM Mahila College, Patna City, is facingshortage of teachers, particularly in arts stream. As a result, teachingsometimes gets hampered due to lack of teachers. The college urgently needs atleast one more teacher in arts stream so that classes could be held smoothly,said college principal Jayshree Dhar.
