Aurangabad DM to camp in Red-hit villages to oversee development work

Aurangabad

: In a bid to implement various welfare schemes of the state government in Maoist-hit villages under Deo and Madanpur blocks, the district administration and police on Sunday identified over a dozen villages where a team of administrative officers including the DM and the SP will camp by turn to ensure that the benefits can reach the last man in the village.

These villages are Tendui,

Dulare

,

Ganjoi

, Pathra, Ajan, Kodiyari, where successive governments have failed to implement any development scheme. Villagers here are surprised to know about the initiative taken by the district administration.

Despite various welfare schemes like Indira Awas Yojana (

IAY

), Vriddha Pension Yojana, Mukhyamantri Cycle and Poshak Yojana, Antodaya Yojana etc, local beneficiaries are yet to get the benefits of these schemes owing to the Naxal menace.Even officers concerned did not dare to inspect the ground-level situation of Maoist-hit villages. Most of the villages mentioned have witnessed many heart-rending Naxal incidents . Naxal activity in these villages has instilled a sense of insecurity among the locals. Hardly a year ago, two hand pumps were installed at Langurahi and Panchrukhiya villages of Madanpur block by the CRPF and district armed police (DAP). However, the Naxals uprooted the pumps and threatened the villagers not to accept any government assistance.

DM

Kanwal Tanuj

said, “The administration is determined to change the lives of people residing in Naxal-hit areas and for this a strategy has been made. Now all the benefits will reach directly to the needy. Development will be our main agenda to counter the Maoists.”
