Arrests made in extortion case

PATNA: Patna police on Wednesday picked up some persons from Darbhanga and surrounding areas in the case related to sending threatening SMSs to health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey on his mobile phone demanding Rs 20 lakh from him failing which he would be eliminated.
The SSP said that along with the health minister, SP, Khagaria, DIG, Munger and the commissioner, Munger division, and six to eight other prominent persons were also sent threatening SMSs.Though, the SSP refused to divulge details on the credentials of the persons brought over from Darbhanga for interrogation, he said that the police are on the job while further investigation are on.
ADG (Hqs) Rajvardhan Sharma said that a case has been registered in this connection under Section 384 of IPC at Sachivalaya police station.
