Armymen shows surgical strike video to schoolkids

PATNA: Schoolchildren had an overwhelming experience on Saturday at an event on the Bihar Regimental Centre premises at Danapur, where they were shown videos of the surgical strike by the Indian Army on the terror launchpads in Pakistan territory.
The event was organised to mark the anniversary of the surgical strike. Hundreds of students of schools, including the Army Public School, attended the event along with their teachers.
The students were also shown the Indian Army’s heavy weaponry, including 7.62mm belt-fed medium machine gun, light machine gun, AK-47 assault rifle, self-loading rifles, rocket launcher, mortar launcher, carbine, NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) suits, hand grenades and anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.
Army officials explained to the students the handling of these weapons and explosives.
Ayushi of Class IX said she had tears in her eyes when the video showed the martyrs being given the last salute. “It was so touching,” she said. Another student Aman Kumar said he had goosebumps while watching the video.
Kumari Saumya, another class IX student, said it was for the first time that she saw the Army’s weapons in real life. “I had seen them on TV earlier,” she said.
The students were also shown glimpses of the wars of 1947, 1962, 1965 and 1971 as well as the Kargil war of 1999.
