A 12-year-old student was kidnapped while he was on the way to school.
PATNA: Barely a day after the Patna High Court asked the state government to submit a status report of cases of kidnapping for ransom across the state, a 12-year-old student was kidnapped while he was on the way to school on Friday. Akash Pandey alias Anshu, a Class VII student of DAV School, Shashtrinagar, was on his way to school when some unidentified persons in a green Maruti van knocked down his bicycle, forced him into the vehicle and sped away.
The incident occurred on a busy lane behind J D Women’s College even as parents of several other students were going to drop their wards to school. Some guardians said a masked man sporting a red cap was driving the van. A woman, who tried to stop the speeding van was knocked down. Anshu’s father Yogendra Pandey, a lab assistant with public health engineering department said, his son left their house at Khagri Lane of Chanakya Puri locality near Raja Bazaar around 6.40 am. "Around 7 am, I received a call on my cellphone and someone informed me that my son has been kidnapped," Pandey said.
