All set for PU's annual convocation on Oct 27
Patna: Patna University (PU) girls have been outsmarting the boys for the past several years and 2015 was no exception. As many as 28 of 41 gold medals to be awarded to the toppers of post-graduation conventional and vocational courses examinations would be bagged by girls at the annual convocation scheduled for October 27.
More than 850 scholars, who have passed the post-graduation examinations of PU till December 2015, will receive the coveted degrees at the convocation to be held at S K Memorial Hall. Banaras Hindu University vice-chancellor Girish Chandra Tripathy will be the chief guest and Bihar governor-cum-chancellor Ram Nath Kovind will preside. PU vice-chancellor Y C Simhadri will give away degrees and certificates to the scholars.
The scholars who will receive gold medals at the convocation include Prashant Raman Ravi (Hindi), Beauti Kumari (English), Manish Kumar Goswami (Sanskrit), Ramrup Chaudhary (Maithili), Surajit Khanna (Bengali), Hajra Siddique (Arabic), Md Rizwan (Persian), Md Ishteyaque Ahmad (Urdu), Shivi Sinha (philosophy) and Chandani Kumari (journalism and mass communications) in the faculty of humanities.
Scholars to be awarded gold medals in the faculty of social sciences include Anjali Anand (history), Shilpi (political science),
Gold medallists in the faculties of science, commerce and law include Nidhi Sinha (physics).
