Agent held for booking tickets on fake ID cards

PATNA: Railway protection force (RPF) led by its Rajendra Nagar terminal SHO Rituraj Kashyap arrested travel agent Sandip Kumar Gupta (32) from Bangali Tola area under the Jakkanpur police station area on Sunday for booking tatkal e-tickets on fake email IDs registered with IRCTC and charging exorbitantly from common people for providing them confirmed tickets.
Thirteen tickets, including ten of tatkal quota booked on fake IDs, Rs1 lakh, a computer and a cellphone were seized from his possession.

This was the second raid against a travel agent this festive season.
Kashyap said Gupta was running one Kavya cyber café at Bangali Tola. “We received information that he was charging extra Rs500 for each sleeper class ticket and at least Rs1500 for AC class ticket,” Kashyap said. He said at least 10 fake emails were open when the raid was conducted at his café.
The SHO said another travel agent, Jeet Kumar Singh (48), was arrested from Anupam cyber café at Kankarbagh on October 16 for booking tickets and charging exorbitant money from common people. Altogether 13 e-tickets worth Rs28,056, five ATM cards, two bank passbooks, one computer and Rs7,900 were seized from the café. Singh lived at Jaganpura under the Ramkrishna Nagar police station area in Patna.
Prior to these two incidents, one Satish Kumar (36), the owner of Patna Travels, was arrested from Jakkanpur on October 5 this year for using an unauthorized and malicious software to breach the security of IRCTC website for booking tickets.
Altogether 51 e-tickets worth Rs1.65 lakh booked with the help of the software, three ATM cards, one laptop used for booking tickets and Rs16,470 were seized from Kumar’s cyber café.
