begusarai: abducted doctor ramashray singh returned home here on tuesday morning after spending six days in various localities of mokama during his captivity.
the mokama police claimed to have secured the safe release of the doctor by raiding the house of a suspect and encountering criminals in dharoni tola in the wee hours of tuesday. mokama police inspector k chandra said a deserter from paramilitary force, sangit kumar, has been arrested and one 9 mm pistol along with 46 live cartridges recovered from his possession.
according to the mokama police, raids are being conducted to arrest kamli singh, ranjit singh, nata singh, rabindra singh and shambhu singh (all from mokama) and bullet singh (from parbatta, khagaria), who allegedly played key roles in the abduction of the doctor on march 6 from near the maranchi police station while he was returning to begusarai after completing his work at a lakhisarai private clinic.
dr ramashray singh could not be contacted after his release as he was busy meeting his near and dear ones in begusarai and lakhisarai where the people had launched agitation for his safe release.
just one day after the abduction, the begusarai police had recovered a van (br-02-8616) used in the crime and nabbed its driver and owner, who allegedly provided an important clue to identify the gang behind the kidnapping.
however, the mokama police are under cloud for delay in the recovery of the doctor when he, according to reports, was confined to mokama during his six-day captivity.
when contacted, begusarai sp kumar rajesh chandra declined to make any comment with regard to the release of the doctor, saying that the case was related to the maranchi police station in patna district. higher officials of the patna police were not available for comments.
meanwhile, the district unit of the indian medical association and different political parties are reportedly going ahead with their decision to organise begusarai bandh on wednesday in protest against the rising crime graph.
