AAI provides new house to CISF men
PATNA” Airports Authority of India (AAI) is keen to beef up security at city’s Jaya Prakash Narayan International Airport, said AAI’s regional executive director Gautam Mukherjee while handing over the newly-built residential building to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) here on Thursday.
“The personnel of CISF, responsible for the security at the airport, have been living in rented quarters so far.

The swanky three-block residential premises will help them enjoy their job with peace of mind,” Mukherjee told reporters.
Constructed on a plot of 1100 square metre at Anisabad, the residential complex has a capacity to house about 85 personnel. It has a well-furnished kitchen and a dining hall besides separate barber’s room, storeroom, washroom and recreation room.
About the recent security lapses at the airport, Mukherjee said meetings and discussions have been held on the issue. “We are going to build a new watchtower along the airport boundary in Gardanibagh,” he said and added that the tower, to come up within two months, would facilitate better vigil by security personnel.
There are currently seven watchtowers along the airport’s six-km boundary wall. One security man is stationed at every watchtower. The distance between the two watchtowers at Gardanibagh is too long. The new tower is to be constructed between the two towers here.
“The new residential building will boost the morale of CISF personnel,” CISF commandant Anand Saxena, who was also present on the occasion, said.
The building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore, provided by the AAI. CISF personnel have started shifting to the new building and all the rooms would be occupied by March 31.
Asked about the proposed new airport with a longer runway, Mukherjee said the state government has yet not made its stand clear on the site for the new airport.
