98 lakh voters to seal fate of 54 netas in state’s 5 LS seats today

Patna: The Met department’s prediction of pleasant weather on Tuesday could spell good news for those in fray in the third phase of elections following a poor voter turnout in the first two phases, with many blaming the intense heat for it.
Over 98 lakh voters are expected to seal the fate of 54 candidates in five Lok Sabha constituencies — Khagaria, Jhanjharpur, Araria, Supaul and Madhepura — in the third phase. According to the IMD, the weather is expected to be nice with possibilities of rain and thundershowers in most parts of the state.

The NDA had won all five seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and has an upper edge this time as well. But the INDIA bloc has sprung a surprise by fielding rookies against veterans of the ruling alliance. Given that ‘apathy’ seems to be the buzzword, anti-incumbency might affect the prospects of NDA candidates in some constituencies.
In Khagaria, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) headed by Chirag Paswan has fielded Rajesh Verma. Choudhary Mehboob Ali Kaiser had won from the seat in 2014 and 2019 elections for the erstwhile LJP.
