MUNGER: Nine Maoists allegedly involved in the attack on security personnel in Sukma forest of Chhattisgarh recently were arrested in Jamui district early Monday morning. Police sources said they had returned from Sukma where 25 security personnel were killed recently.
Jamui SP Jayant Kant said after receiving a tip-off around 2.30am that some Maoists were planning major attacks in Naini Pathar and Asarkho forest areas under Charkapathar police station in the district, a team of CRPF, SSB, STF and Bihar Police rushed to the jungle and arrested nine of them.
“The Maoists have admitted their involvement in the attack on security forces in Sukma recently,” the SP said. An FIR has been lodged against them under different sections of IPC and Explosives Act, he added.
Police sources said the arrested Maoists were identified as Ramdeo Kora, Gopal Bhulla, Madan Bhulla, Sunil Marandi, Shyam Soren, Jhanki Murmu, Sonam Hansda, Chamru Ram and Arjun Kora. They were in Sukma for special training.
The arrested Maoists are members of special squad led by self-styled zonal commanders Sidhu Kora and Suraj Yadav. Twelve pipe bombs weighing 5kg each, one can bomb weighing 10kg, 40 metres of electric wire and two batteries were also recovered from their possession.
