Saran civil surgeon Dr Madhveshwar Jha on Saturday said the left elbow of one of the two critically injured people was badly damaged from gunshot injury.

SHO of Manjhi police station Niraj Kumar Mishra said the incident took place when devotees were offering evening ‘arghya’ to Sun God at the ghat.

“One Pranav Kumar Singh had come to the ghat with an illegal firearm. While others were engaged in worshipping, Pranav loaded the firearm and fired few rounds in air, injuring seven devotees,” he said.

The SHO said at least four criminal cases were lodged against Pranav with Manjhi police station. “He had come out of jail after securing bail just 12 days back,” he added.
