7 cops hurt as RJD MLA creates ruckus at Dhanarua PS

PATNA: At least seven policemen were injured, four of them seriously, when Masaurhi

Rekha Devi with her supporters pelted stones policemen with stones in front of Dhanarua police station in Patna district in an alleged bid to free two arrested persons on Wednesday. The two were arrested in an inebriated state. Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them.

The MLA along with her six other supporters was detained, but the police released them on personal bonds.

, the husband of a former mukhiya, forced the policemen to free the duo,” he said, adding that when the policemen refused, at least 15 Bind supporters attacked the two policemen and escaped with the arrested persons.

Panjiyar said police later arrested Rajesh and Mantu again and brought them to the police station while Lalit fled the village. On Wednesday morning, the RJD MLA reached the police station with her supporters and started pressurising the policemen to free them. She also blocked the road for a couple of hours, he said.

“Her supporters started pelting stones on the policemen in front of the police station. Four constables received serious injuries. Police used force to disperse the crowd,” he said, adding Mantu and Rajesh were sent to jail.
