7 children drown in Bihar's Nawada, Banka

PATNA/NAWADA: At least seven children, including three girls, drowned in separate incidents in Nawada and Banka districts on Thursday.

While four children drowned while taking a bath in a pond at Warsaliganj in Nawada district, three minor girls drowned in another pond at Babhangama village in Banka district.

In Warsaliganj, as a child slipped into deep water, the three others tried to rescue him. However, they also drowned in the pond. Their bodies were fished out by the local divers.

The victims were identified as Ayush Paswan (10), Samir Kumar (10) and brothers Shrawan (9) and Ritik Mahto (11).

Meanwhile, three children, who had gone to a pond to take a bath without the consent of their parents, drowned at Babhangama village under the Barahat police station area in Banka district.

The villagers found the bodies of the three children floating in the pond in the evening.

SHO of Barahat police station Satish Kumar said the victims were identified as Dolly Kumari (7), Kiran Kumari (8) and Baby Kumari (9).
