Two others — Nankhi (10) and the head of the family, Prem Lal Ram — were battling for life, said A V Sahay, the attending physician.
According to police sources, Prem Lal Ram's daughter-in-law Vibha Devi had allegedly mixed poison with the food and offered that to the family.
Sources added that Suresh Ram, who married Vibha Devi a few months back, had survived an attempt on his life only three days ago when he was given food mixed with poison at his in-laws' place in Maiyari village.
The couple returned to Mohanpur village on Tuesday where Vibha again repeated the act, this time, of course, to wipe out her husband's entire family.
Samastipur superintendent of police Ajitabh Kumar said police are investigating the case. Although Vibha has been arrested, it is not yet clear as to why she committed such a dastardly act.
