GAYA: Three people with "criminal antecedents" were injured in an explosion, when a bomb they were carrying in an e-rickshaw went off in Sherghati police station area late on Saturday.
According to sources, while two persons sitting on passengers' seat sustained serious injuries, the driver received minor wounds. The vehicle was badly damaged.
Gaya SSP Ashish Bharti, in a press statement on Sunday, confirmed the injured had "criminal antecedents".
"Three criminals were carrying bombs in an e-rickshaw. Suddenly, one of them exploded, injuring the three. They tried to run away but Sherghati SHO Raj Kishore Singh reached the spot with an armed force and caught them," he said, adding police collected the remains of the bomb and seized the e-rickshaw.
"The arrested miscreants, identified as Basant Chauhan, Prakash Chauhan and Vijay Manjhi - all residents of Sherghati police station area - are undergoing treatment at the local sub-divisional health centre under police custody. Basant is an accused in three cases lodged with Madanpur police of Aurangabad district and one case with Dobhi police. Criminal history of the other two is being ascertained," the SSP said.
