20-odd IAS officials to be away for mth for a mth

Patna: Twenty-odd IAS officers of the 1991 to 2000 batches of Bihar cadre are likely to be away from the state for their mid-career training at Mussoorie from June 27 to July 22.
The training is mandatory and should be ordinarily undergone by officers between the 17th and 25th years of their service.
Most of these officers are holding charge of two or even three departments in view of scarcity of IAS officers in the state.Needless to say, the functioning of several key departments is likely to suffer during their absence.
In a recent communique to the state chief secretary, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration's joint director (training) Tejveer Singh said the objective of the 'Phase IV' training was to build the 'next level competency' of middle-level IAS officers for the roles that require increased focus on policy formulation and implementation.
"Our endeavour would be to expose them to inputs covering the theory and praxis of public policy along with a one-week foreign study tour to provide them an international perspective on policy making," reads Singh's letter to all the state chief secretaries and secretaries of Union ministries/departments.
The Bihar government has been requested to ensure participation of all the eligible officers in the training. For exemptions, if any, in view of rare and extraordinary circumstances, necessary approval of the training division of Union department of personnel and training will be required.
Those likely to be nominated by the Bihar government for the training include C K Anil, Pratyaya Amrit, S Siddharth, S M Raju (all 1991), Deepak K Singh, Chanchal Kumar, Harjot Kaur (all 1992), Atish Chandra (1994), Arvind K Choudhary, N Vijaylaskhmi (1995), Anand Kishor, H R Srinivas, Bipin Kumar, Rahul Singh (all 1996), Prem Singh Meena, Manish K Verma and Jitendra Kumar Srivastava (all 2000).
