2 youths gun down shopkeeper in city

PATNA: Two motorcycle-borne youths barged into the house of grocery shop owner Shailendra Kumar and shot him dead in his bedroom. The incident occurred at Road No. 2 in Indrapuri locality under Pataliputra Colony police station here on Thursday morning. The youths then sped off on their motorcycle parked close by.
Patna senior superintendent of police Amit Kumar Jain said Shailendra’s wife Poonam has accused her brother-in-law Akhilesh (her husband’s brother) and his friend Pankaj of murdering her husband.Pankaj has been arrested and being interrogated, Jain said, adding that Akhilesh has escaped after the killing.
Jain said personal enmity is said to be the reason behind Shailendra’s killing. He added that Akhilesh used to run a shop in the New Pataliputra Colony earlier and following the death of their father about six months ago, Shailendra started running the shop, which led to differences between the two brothers. “Shailendra’s wife told police that Akhilesh had once even threatened her husband with dire consequences,” the SSP said.
Earlier, Shailendra’s relative Chunnu said Shailendra and his wife had gone to the grocery shop in the New Pataliputra Colony locality on Thursday morning. He said later Shailendra returned home and was cooling himself in his room on the first floor. “I heard a defeaning sound and as I entered the room, I saw Shailendra lying in a pool of blood on the bed,” he said, adding that he saw two youths escaping on a bike after the incident.
Chunnu said after the cold-blooded murder, the family members informed Shailendra’s wife, who was still at the shop. The locals told TOI that they saw two youths coming out of Shailendra’s house around 9 am and one of the assailants was wearing a helmet and it was he who was driving the motorcycle.
