Patna: Two women died at a Siwan temple while three youths drowned in Budhi Gandak river in Muzaffarpur before offering prayers on the first Somwari (Monday) of the Shrawan month.
The two women were identified as Sohagmati Devi (50), the wife of Dilip Baitha of Pathar village under Jiradei police station area and 50-year-old Lilavati Devi, the wife of Motab Chaudhary of Pratappur village under Hussainganj police station area.
The accident took place when a large number of devotees thronged the Baba Mahendranath Dham temple in Siswan block of Siwan around 3am and tried to overtake each other in a bid to enter inside for ‘jalabhishek’ on the Shivling.
In-charge of Chainpura police outpost, Abhinandan Yadav, said four other women sustained injuries and had been admitted to the Sadar hospital.
They were identified as Ajoria Devi (60) and Shiv Kumari (45) of Pratappur besides 26-year-old Priya Kumari and Sunita Kumari (28) of Bagora under Daraunda police station area.
