2 killed for dowry in Bhojpur district

Ara: Two married women were allegedly killed by their in-laws merely for non-fulfillment of dowry demands in separate incidents at two different places in Bhojpur district during the last 24 hours.
Police sources said one Jyoti Devi, daughter of Devnath Singh of Baswanpur village under Bihia police station was married to Jitendra Kumar, son of Kaushal Singh, of Ichari village under Ayar PS in 2015.

Soon after her marriage, her in-laws started torturing her both physically and mentally as Jyoti's parents failed to fulfill their demands. On Saturday, they killed her and tried to dispose off the body.
However, some neighbours informed the police.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and brought it to Ara sadar hospital for postmortem. An FIR has been lodged with Ayar PS on the statement of deceased's father .
In another incident, a mother of four children was burnt to death by her in-laws for non-fulfilment of their dowry demands. Later they disposed off the body to erase any evidence at Baghaud Narainpur village under Agiaw Bazaar police station.
A named FIR has been lodged with the police under Bihia PS against eight persons including her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law on the statement of Subhash Kumar, the deceased's brother.
Agiaw Bazaar police station SHO said one Reena Devi, daughter of Ram Nath Singh of Aanar village under Bihia police station was married to Sunil Singh, son of Surendra Singh of Baghaud Narainpur village under Agiaw Bazaar police station about 16 years ago.
