Motihari: District consumer redressal forum of Motihari has slapped a fine of Rs 2.50 lakh on the vice-chancellor, registrar and examination controller of BRA Bihar University (BRABU), Muzaffarpur, and principal of M S College, Motihari, for running law faculty and admitting students without affiliation from the Bar Council of India (BCI).
According to prosecution, a student, Utpal Anand, was admitted to first year of the three-year law course at M S College in 2008 and passed all the three examinations conducted by BRABU.

After getting the law degree, he applied for registration as an advocate to the Bar Council of India's office at Patna. His petition was rejected by the council, stating that the M S College's law faculty was disaffiliated since 2006.
After hearing the complainant, the forum served notices on all the accused, asking them to respond to the petition.
When they did not respond, the forum passed an ex parte order on Thursday. Ramchandra Sahani, president, and Azhar Hussain, member of the district consumer redressal forum, Motihari, in their order imposed a fine of Rs 2.50 lakh on BRABU VC Pandit Palande, registrar Ratnesh Mishra, examination controller Pankaj Kumar and principal of M S College, Motihari.
